
Victoria Tumanova, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Lab Director
Victoria Tumanova received her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and clinical Master’s degrees from University of Northern Iowa. She joined the faculty at Syracuse University in 2013 after two years as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Developmental Stuttering Project Laboratory at Vanderbilt University.

Samantha Fiorante, M.S., CCC-SLP, Research Clinician
Samantha is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who works as a research clinician at Syracuse University. She provides assessments and therapy for children as part of ongoing studies for both the Stuttering Lab and the Speech Production Lab (director Dr. Jonathan Preston).

Jenna Sherry, M.S. CF-SLP
Jenna Sherry is a Syracuse native and recent graduate of Syracuse University, where she earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in Developing Children and Families, at Nazareth University. Jenna is especially interested in stuttering and voice disorders and is passionate about helping people build communicative confidence and effectiveness. Through her work in the Stuttering Lab, she hopes to deepen her understanding of developmental stuttering and contribute to developing evidence-based methods that best support people who stutter.

Dana Meyerson, Graduate Student
Dana Meyerson is a Graduate student completing her Master’s thesis in the Stuttering Lab examining how children who stutter differ from their peers in their speech rhythm and biometrics during speaking tasks. Originally from Mountain View, California, Dana obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and most recently worked as a psychology lab manager at the University of Missouri. Dana is graduating in December 2025 and is excited to work with children of all ages who have speech and language disorders.

Jessica Singh, Undergraduate Student
Jessica is a senior from Rockland County, NY. She is currently pursuing a double major in Communication Sciences and Disorders & Biochemistry. She is also on the pre-med track and is interested in becoming an otolaryngologist. She is very excited to be gaining valuable research experience in a clinical setting prior to starting medical school.

Meghan DeVaughn, Undergraduate Student
Meghan is a rising senior CSD major from San José, CA! I am also pursuing a history minor at Syracuse. She’s excited to gain hands on research experience and to work with skilled SLPs in the field while pursuing a career in speech pathology.

Ava Polak, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Lab Director
Ava is a senior from Amherst, Massachusetts currently studying Communication Sciences and Disorders and Spanish. She joined the Stuttering Lab to gain experience in a research environment. After graduation, she hopes to earn her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology.

Madeline Hurlbert, Undergraduate Student
Maddie Hurlbert is a senior from St. Johnsbury, Vermont. She is pursuing a Communication Science & Disorders major and a minor in Education Studies. After graduation, Maddie intends to pursue her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and is excited to get hands-on experience in research through Dr. Tumanova’s lab.
